Wildlife Yard List 2026 Callyn Yorke
Background
Beginning in early January 2026, intermittent, stationary observations of birds and other wildlife were made on the property, Del Monte Park subdivision of Pacific Grove and adjacent coastal zone, i.e. Pt. Joe and Asilomar Marine Reserve.
A binocular (Zeiss 10 x42) and a spotting scope (Zeiss 30-60x) with a Bogen tripod were used in combination with a DSLR camera and telephoto lens (Nikon D850; Nikon Z9 and Nikon pf 500mm) for confirmation of distant sightings.
Pacific Grove habitats in this area (Del Monte Park subdivision) include mature, lichen draped Monterey Pine-Coast Live Oak woodland (an extension of the Morse Botatincal Reserve) with a wetland seepage (willow, sedge, etc.); coastal sage chaparral; residential gardens with predominantly ornamental exotic vegetation; a golf course with coastal dune-sage landscaping (17-mile Drive); rocky shoreline with scattered large outcrops (Pt. Joe), intertidal zone and offshore waters of the Pacific Ocean (Asilomar Marine Reserve) adjacent to Monterey Bay.
